HGV seized by police
A heavy goods vehicle (HGV) was seized by police on the M62 due to a series of defects found with the vehicle.
Some of the issues with the HGV included it having no nearside mirrors, the body not being secured to the chassis with locking pins, the fuel tank leaking, no tachograph and the driver having no licence or insurance.
There may have been more issues with the vehicle as Greater Manchester Police tweeted the reasons why the vehicle was seized but also mentioned there were not enough characters to mention all the defects!
The driver was handed an immediate roadworthiness prohibition (PG9) and the vehicle was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
The driver was heading eastbound on the M62 early on Monday when the HGV was intercepted.
