HGV driver fined for using mobile phone while driving

Cumbria Police have stopped a driver this week for using his mobile phone whilst driving.

The officers stopped the person who was driving a HGV on the A66 area near Appleby in Eden.

A tweet from Cumbria Police read: "This articulated HGV caught my attention on the A66 near Appleby as it swerved towards me. "I then noticed the driver was using his mobile phone. This is dangerous and unacceptable. Driver stopped and issued 6 points along with a £200 fine."

This really does reinforce the message once again of how dangerous it is to use a mobile phone whilst driving an HGV or indeed, any vehicle.
